History
This is the fourth year of Mayor Barrett’s Summer Youth Internship Program
(SYIP), which
put close to 1,500 young people to work in 2007. The 1,500 jobs were broken down
into three separate components: the City’s program, which employed 245 youth, a
non-profit/faith-based initiative implemented with state funding that hired 450
youth, and a private sector initiative that helped more than 800 young people
gain employment with private companies and businesses.
