City Internship Program Information

Requirements

» All applicants for city positions are required to be enrolled in 11th or 12th grade and to be 16-19 years old (age 16 by June 1, 2008)
» All applicants are required to be residents of the City of Milwaukee and live within the CDBG area. We will verify residency in the CDBG area.
» Past participants of the City program are not eligible to repeat this program, but are eligible for private sector employment opportunities.
» To be considered for a position, applicants are required to submit:
» A personal reference from a teacher, principal, counselor, employer, coach, or pastor
» Their fall 2007 report card which includes school absences and GPA (grade point average). Preference is given to those applicants with the least amount of school absences and higher GPAs.

Program

2008 SYIP employees begin working 20 hours per week on June 16, 2008 and end August 8, 2008 for a total of 8 weeks. Interns are placed in positions working throughout the City on Monday through Thursdays. Fridays are reserved for mandatory Education Days.
