The Near West
Side planning process was a comprehensive
approach with strong partnership from community organizations.
The City partnered with the Avenues
West Association, Fannie Mae, Marquette University, Marquette University High
School, Milwaukee County and the West End Development Corporation in the
preparation of the plan.

The Near West Side
Plan serves as the official policy guide for physical improvement and
development in the Near West Side. The Plan encompasses the use of land and
buildings, the movement of vehicles and pedestrians, and the provision of parks,
utilities and other public facilities. The Plan provides a guide for public
investments and capital improvements, to help ensure that local public dollars
are allocated effectively.
