Various community organizations and leaders requested that the City prepare a
comprehensive plan for the Fond du Lac and North area and offered their assistance in preparing the
plan. The Fond du Lac and North Area Plan broadened the impact of the
"West Fond du Lac Avenue Corridor Plan" prepared by Horace Edwards and
Associates and the Fond du Lac Economic Development Program. The area plan covered a larger
area and integrated previous and current plans, studies and programs for the
area in a comprehensive approach, with strong partnership from community
organizations.

The process
Two neighborhood visioning workshops
provided an opportunity for citizens and city planners to come
together and create development scenarios for the neighborhood. Three
focus groups were held on commercial, industrial, and residential issues.
The Image Preference Survey gathered input on preferences for residential, commercial and industrial
development, public space and parking areas.
The Household Survey allowed Fond du Lac and North
area residents and business owners
to tell us more about who they were and to share their views and opinions about
the Fond du Lac and North area.
Planning and
Design Institute was the lead consultant for the plan, assisted
by
Hurtado Consulting for economic analysis,
Farr and Associates for urban design and public involvement, and
Norris and Associates for engineering.
