City receives award for Menomonee Valley redevelopment
 

The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) recognized the City of Milwaukee and its Redevelopment Authority with an Excellence in Economic Development Award for its achievement in redeveloping Wisconsin’s largest eyesore: the Menomonee Valley. IEDC recognized the world’s best economic development programs and partnerships with 25 awards presented at its annual conference this month. Dave Misky, Redevelopment Authority Assistant Executive Director accepted the award on behalf of the City. The IEDC provides leadership and excellence in economic development for communities, members and international partners.

What’s going on in the Menomonee Valley?
 

This fall the City of Milwaukee celebrated the 6th groundbreaking in the Menomonee Valley Industrial Center. The center is home to 723 jobs so far, which is on track towards the job creation goal. Overall there have been at least a dozen construction projects throughout the Valley, representing more than 2,100 new jobs. The Valley Industrial Center has proven successful in positioning companies to compete globally through the construction of more efficient, modern production centers.
