Foundation Park dedicated to
neighborhood partners
Foundation Park at 3700 W. McKinley was officially
dedicated on June 14th, 2008 and represents three years of work by residents,
business owners and Harley-Davidson employees to strengthen the neighborhood.
The City of Milwaukee was a partner in these efforts, through its
Targeted Investment
Neighborhood program operated by the
Neighborhood
Improvement Development Corporation.
Harley-Davidson donated the vacant unbuildable lot to the neighborhood, to
create an attractive pocket park. The Harley-Davidson Foundation, the Greater
Milwaukee Foundation and Ceres Foundation all helped fund the transformation,
including the donation of 20 trees, playground equipment and fencing.

Foundation Park was named by area residents to
represent the ongoing relationship between the neighbors of Harley-Davidson and
both the Harley-Davidson Foundation and Greater Milwaukee Foundation to
revitalize and improve the quality of life in the neighborhood.
At the dedication ceremony, 30 additional trees and plants were available for
residents to plant in their own yards, and employees from Harley-Davidson were
on-hand to assist with the planting. Starbucks provided employee volunteers to
serve up donated beverages.
The City of Milwaukee’s Targeted Investment Neighborhood Program is always
seeking partners to strengthen neighborhoods. Contact: Dave Weber 286-5626.
