Bronzeville project announcement

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett announced recently that the City is working with
former Bucks Coach Terry Porter and his company, Diversified Development Group,
on a catalytic project in Bronzeville. The proposal is for a 5-story, mixed-use
building that will include a large sports & entertainment complex. The project
will be located on the southwest corner of 7th & North Avenue at the gateway to
Bronzeville.
"I believe Terry Porter's project at the gateway to Bronzeville is going to
generate excitement and boost our efforts to create an African-American cultural
and entertainment district," said Mayor Barrett.
Further details regarding the project are expected to be announced at a future
news conference with Terry Porter. Stay tuned!
Bronzeville
is a redevelopment project to create a unique and special place in Milwaukee
that celebrates the cultural heritage and daily life of African Americans. The
Bronzeville Entertainment and Cultural District is a concept that will
revitalize an older commercial district and surrounding neighborhood in the
historical heart of Milwaukee’s African-American community. The commercial
district runs along E. North Avenue between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and
North 7th Street. Bronzeville will create a strong cultural identity for this
traditional main street to attract additional investment and employment
opportunities. At the same time, Bronzeville will empower entrepreneurs, raise
community spirit and help promote the City of Milwaukee as a year-round tourist
destination.
