Once you know the exact zoning
designation for a property, you can use the CZO to answer this question. Open
the CZO home page.
Click the "AutoTab" button
.
AutoTab displays use and design standard information in a tabular format. If you
want use information, click on "use tables." For design standards, including
setbacks and lot coverage, click on "design." For parking and loading
information, click on "Prkg/Ldg."

If the zoning district begins with the letters
RS,
RT,
RM
or RO,
click on the "residential" tab at the top of the page.
If the zoning district begins with the letters
NS,
LB,
RB,
or CS,
click on the "commercial" tab.
If the zoning district begins with
C9,
click on the "downtown" tab.
If the zoning district begins with the letter
I,
click on the "industrial" tab.
If the zoning district begins with some other letter, click on the "other
districts" tab.
Each tab lists every type of land and property use that is defined in the zoning
ordinance. The uses are grouped as follows: residential; educational;
community-serving; commercial and office; health care and social assistance;
general service; motor vehicle; accommodation and food service; entertainment
and recreation; storage, recycling and wholesale trade; transportation;
industrial; agricultural; utility and public service, and temporary uses.
Once you've found the correct tab, find the exact zoning district for the
property.

Following the column that corresponds to the
exact zoning district, scroll down to see the status of each property use with
that zoning district.
The table shows all the land uses enumerated in the zoning ordinance, and
indicates whether, in a particular zoning district, a use is permitted
(indicated by a "Y"), permitted under limited conditions (indicated by an "L,"),
permitted if the Board of Zoning Appeals approves a special use permit
(indicated by an "S,") or prohibited (indicated by an "N").
To see the definition of a particular use, click on the underlined name of the
use.
To see the conditions under which a limited use is allowed, click on the "L."
Scroll down the list until you find the use that interests you.
