Milwaukee's zoning ordinance has two parts:
1. A map that indicates the boundaries for each zoning district.
The map is
used to answer the question, "What is the zoning of my property?"
2. Text that spells out the development standards within each zoning district.
In Milwaukee's code, these standards fall into two main categories.

Use standards indicate how a property in a particular zoning district may be
used.

Design standards specify the standards for development of buildings and
structures within a particular zoning district. |
Use and design standards vary from one zoning district to another. What is
permitted in one district may not be permitted in another. To analyze the
permitted uses or design requirements for a piece of property, it's critical to
first know the name of the district in which it's located.

contains the text of the zoning ordinance and a link to a web site that can be
used to determine the zoning for a particular property.
