The Common Council's adoption of a new zoning ordinance for the city of Milwaukee in May 2002, with an effective date of October 1, 2002, was the culmination of several years of effort to re-write Chapter 295 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances and redraw the boundaries for zoning districts.  A web-based version of the new ordinance was created to make it easily accessible to the public.

This guide is designed to help users make the most of the Computerized Zoning Ordinance (CZO). It includes answers to frequently asked questions regarding the code. The CZO is available at
