Survey

A survey is required if:

  • you are requesting a dimensional variance from the required setbacks
  • you are planning any new construction
  • you are planning any physical alteration to the existing footprint of the building

You can use an existing survey if the premises (the land and the buildings on it) have not changed since the survey was done. If you would like to get a survey quickly without too much cost, you can try to find one in the following places:

  • The owner of the premises, if you rent or lease.
  • The financial institution where you took out your loan, if you own the premises.
  • In the FRANK P. ZIEDLER MUNICIPAL BUILDING or 809 N. Broadway:
    • 1. Development Center Microfilm, 1st floor 809, 286-2568
    • 2. BOZA Office, 1st floor 809, 286-2501
    • 3. City Records, Basement 841, room B-1, 286-3393

If you can't find a survey in any of these places, or if the one you find can't be used, you can get a new survey from one of the many companies listed in the yellow pages under Surveyors-Land or any other qualified agent.
