Plan of Operation

Every plan of operation must contain the following information. Please address each of the following points using complete sentences that restate the question.

  • The address of the premises.
  • The name and type of business.
EXAMPLE: Rainbow Daycare Services, a daycare for preschoolers
  • The size of the building in square feet (or the length and width of the building in feet) and the construction type of the building (wood frame, brick, concrete, etc.)
  • A detailed description of the proposed operation.
This description should be at least several paragraphs and should explain, in detail, how the proposed use will be operated. The description should state what type of business or activities are to occur on site.
  • Describe the land uses next to the property and on the same block.
EXAMPLE: The lot faces the west. Across the street from the lot are storefront buildings and second story apartments. There is a grocery store to the north side of the lot and a restaurant to the south. To the east of the lot are single family homes.
  • A discussion of any possible problems that your operation may cause.
EXAMPLE: Any increase in traffic created by the proposed operation will not pose a problem for other businesses or residents in the area because parking spaces for customers and employees are provided on the premises. Etc.
  • The area your operation will serve (who will be the customers, clients, or congregation and from where will they come.)
  • Number of employees, if any.
    EXAMPLE: 12 full-time employees, 6 part-time employees. 9 employees per shift.
  • Hours and days your business will be open.
    EXAMPLE: Mon. - Fri. 8:00AM - 10:00PM; Sat. 9:00AM to 5:00 PM; Sunday, Closed.
  • An explanation of the traffic pattern.
    This should include:
    • Any off-site parking. (street or public parking lots)
EXAMPLE: Street parking is available along both sides of Layton in front of the building. Street parking is also available along the streets to the north and the south of the lot.
    • The number of any and all vehicles that will make deliveries or pick up goods.
EXAMPLE: There will be 4 to 6 trucks making deliveries. The trucks will be from other companies, as the company that will operate out of the premises does not own any trucks. No goods will be picked up from the premises.
    • Where delivery, loading, employee & customer vehicles will enter, leave, & park.
EXAMPLE: Deliveries will be made from the alley behind the lot. Trucks can park directly behind the store. Trucks can enter and leave from either of the two alley access-ways. Customers can park on the public lot directly across the street from the store, and street parking is also available. Eight on-site parking spaces will be provided as identified and numbered on the site plan.
