Purchasing Power Profiles

ZIP Code profiles
Milwaukee is a strong market for retail development, according to data compiled by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Employment and Training Institute (ETI). At the request of DCD, ETI developed comparison data on estimated resident expenditures for 16 categories of common consumer items for 53 residential ZIP codes in the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The profiles are designed to help businesses, developers, and organizations assess the advantages of urban density for underserved city neighborhoods and to spur economic development in central city Milwaukee.  Read more about the methodology.

Profiles are available for ZIP codes covering the city of Milwaukee and suburbs in Milwaukee County.  Select a profile on a ZIP code map or from a list of available ZIPs.

Define a custom profile
ETI provides comparison data on purchasing power, business activity, and workforce density for all census tracts, residential ZIP codes, and the 100 largest metro areas in the U.S. Note: The Milwaukee purchasing power profiles described above differ from the custom profiles available on the ETI website; see methodology for an explanation.
