Dear Fellow Milwaukeean:

On December 6-7, 2006, I convened the 2006 Community and Economic Development Leadership Summit and am pleased to report that the event was a tremendous success. Over 700 participants gathered, demonstrating their commitment to the shared goals of creating jobs, growing our economy and improving our quality of life.

It is exciting to note that hundreds of attendees – representing a wide variety of sectors including government, business, education and community-based organizations – made formal pledges to advance strategies identified at the summit.

I am committed to building on the momentum of the 2006 Community and Economic Development Leadership Summit and doing everything I can to continue Milwaukee’s ascent among the great cities of the nation. Working together, we can move forward with a common vision and actions to show ourselves, our nation and our world, that there is no end to what we can accomplish together in Milwaukee.
